Diamond Quality

Cut – Engineered Brilliance

Cut is the single biggest factor in a diamond’s fire and scintillation.
By controlling angles, proportions, and facet symmetry, master cutters create an optical path that bends and reflects light back to your eye.

Orliere approach

  • Round diamonds: Only Excellent/Ideal cut for optimal brightness and balance.
  • Fancy shapes (oval, pear, cushion, emerald, princess): Chosen with Very Good–Excellent polish and symmetry, and inspected for even light and minimal “bow-tie” shadows.

Why it matters: Perfect geometry acts like a hall of mirrors, creating the flashes of white and rainbow light that make a diamond come alive.

Color – Naturally Colorless

Color is graded from D (pure colorless) to Z (light yellow/brown) by comparing each diamond to a master set under controlled lighting.

Orliere standard

  • Only F color or better diamonds are accepted.
  • This guarantees a neutral white hue that stays icy bright in platinum, white gold, yellow gold, or rose gold settings.

Why it matters: A true colorless diamond reflects light without any warm tint, giving a clean, timeless appearance.

Clarity – Eye-Clean Perfection

Clarity describes how free a diamond is from inclusions (internal characteristics) and blemishes (surface marks), measured at 10× magnification.

Orliere selection

  • Brilliant shapes (round, oval, cushion): often VS2–SI1 when inclusions are small and hidden by facet patterns.
  • Step cuts (emerald, asscher): typically VS1–VS2 for a crystal-clear, glass-like look.

Why it matters: We focus on eye-clean stones—diamonds where inclusions are invisible to the naked eye—so all you see is sparkle.

Carat – Weight with Visual Impact

Carat measures weight (1 ct = 0.2 g), but what the eye sees depends on cut and shape.

Orliere approach

  • Recommend shapes that maximize face-up size (like oval, pear, or marquise).
  • Suggest smart carat ranges (e.g., 0.90–0.99 ct) that look virtually identical to milestone weights but give better value.
  • Use slender bands or halos to enhance perceived size without unnecessary weight.

Why it matters: You get the size and presence you want while keeping every millimeter of brilliance.

The Orliere Difference

  • Scientific precision: Every diamond is reviewed for cut geometry, facet alignment, and light performance.
  • Colorless by design: Only F–D color diamonds make the cut.
  • Natural beauty, perfected: Hand-selected to be eye-clean and vibrant.
  • Design synergy: Our settings—from cathedral solitaires to hidden halos—are engineered to enhance light flow and brilliance.
